A Cowboy of My Time
I've never been where they've been
Oh, I've been to Dallas
And I've been down to San Antone
Even seen a palace
But those old men there on that bench
Have a laugh I ain't got
And there's a twinkle in their eyes
That in my eyes is not
Oh, I'm a cowboy of my time -
Cell phone and Facebook too
But that old man had a crank phone
Ain't much that he can't do
What makes these old men so happy
It's Love say all the Wise
Well, he'd say that they all are wrong
'til he recalled her eyes
I think back a few years ago
Before we had to part
The first thing on my mind was fame
The last a broken heart
So take me where they all have been
Twinkling eyes and laughter
And I'll see blue eyes once again
That smile ever after
