A Game
My Fortune laid out cards - you appeared
Unexpectedly and suddenly that day.
We looked at one another and adhered
To the beginning of the interesting play.
We were utterly different and quite similar.
Then nothing was clear-cut or sure.
An experienced man and a crazy woman -
Both of us needed a life-giving cure…
We began this game and tried to be wise,
Our strategy was well-thought-out and agreed.
And you turned out the most valuable prize
At the lottery called my destiny
You were a humming stream in the spring
Drowning out my poor, wretched existence.
Suddenly happiness was a normal thing,
Everything seemed good in your presence.
But this game is over. I threw out the cards.
Yet, I can’t say I am unhappy today.
At nights I recall this game and look at stars,
Smiling at the mere mention of the play…
