Love Poem: A Kind of Love

A Kind of Love

A kind of love

And this is but one in an ocean of many,
Indefinite definitions of love
So you can fish out any
Perhaps, come up with one.

I was intrigued to hear that love’s a verb
An action word whose meaning
Goes beyond mere feelings
With a tendency to change
From initially feeling a certain way-
To no longer feeling the same

Contrary to walking away and turning your back
Choosing to an action to rekindle the flame
Synergistically working together to bring it back
Amid a hopeless moment when it seems to fade

It ain’t all about finding a perfect match
Because when it comes people, there’s no such thing as a perfect pack
Be not marveled
This isn’t a jigsaw puzzle

The reason why some people never break up
And why others always make up
Putting aside their differences, living together
No matter the weather

Patience, long-suffering and acceptance
Not vainly chasing after the wind; who can catch that?
Appreciating what’s at hand, nobody’s perfect
Never shrinking to grow against a harsh moment,
When the feelings seem to fall dormant
As a dying flame almost extinct
Real love still persists to exist

Withstanding the waves
Enduring the most vile of tests
Yes, the initial stage is for a little taste
After which comes the roughest phase
Which lovers have to face
Or never make it to the end.

If every soul understood how it works
They would better know how to share it
