A Letter On the Desktop
A letter lies collecting dust
upon the corner of my desk,
like dead leaves on the winter’s crust.
‘Twas written by her years ago,
and leaving me was such a blow,
that brings back mem’ries so grotesque.
When love was young, our hearts aflame,
like embers burning, love on fire.
But she thought love was just a game,
or maybe thought her life bereft;
but either way she up and left;
this letter stating her desire.
