Love Poem: A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love

Petrified, you call my name
You cannot see my face
You resent me for this wretched pain
Your anger is misplaced

You know not how my love does stretch
To the sun and back to earth
Try a boomerang in a game of fetch
And you might see how this works

I'll never leave you behind
I can't live without my heart
If I could ease your troubled mind
This very moment, I would start

But you carry this fear around
It has made, in you, a home
If you do not hear my sound
You assume, you're all alone

But I'll tell you a million more times
I'll explain it a thousand unique ways
I'll carve it out, in stone or pine
I love you for all of my days
