A Poem For You
Let's kiss and make up, darling
why do you always do this to me
call me and say you love me, you need me,
then punch me and push me out.
You need me when you're blue
and stick to me like you were glue
laying on top of me and kissing my face
making both our hearts race.
You play the soft jazz in the living room
as I cut the beef and pour the wine in the kitchen
You lean over and kiss me
then you get quiet, baby.
I work for you, cook for you, clean for you,
you smile then you frown
One minute you're up, the next you're down,
Honey, Darling, Lovely what's wrong.
You're a beautiful mystery
dark and shy
like one grey cloud in a blue sky,
Honey why do you cry?
Is it me?
Did I say something wrong,
you say I'm fine,
but you and me know that's not right,
Darling tell me,
you say, "I'm fine..."
Your eyes go from side to side then shut,
you grip your hands together,
and you let out a soft sigh,
For a moment, I think everything is fine...
Then you look at me,
get up and go over to the balcony and breathe.
Darling, I know you're not what you say,
You just sit there and lay,
with nothing to go to for answers,
just close those eyes and put the pillow on your face,
think about the times in France, Italy, and Spain,
Where we made love, sweet love to the music of nights,
Now it is just a silent night,
with nothing to say or do...
Darling, Baby, I miss you...
