A River
For so long keeping you from me,
were chains that bear my misery.
Composed of ash from a bridge I once burned.
My mind told me to wait and see.
My heart told me it cannot be.
My soul told me to close my eyes and leap.
I truly hoped that I could swim,
in the river of what had always been;
not drowning in unrealized memories.
Now that the tide has pulled me down,
i know you will not let me drown.
I stare up watching blue fade to black.
I know my world, was inside out.
As my last breath leaves, I try to shout;
but the darkness quickly swallows all I see.
Her eyes are made of evergreen;
gazing at something I’ve never seen.
On its own time, true love set me free.
