A Sailor
What a sailor may dream
is the rustles of sea where
the boat the rocks above:
a palace of coral,
castles of rock,
a stretching seaweed
and creatures with fins,
fiddling and swimming.
And what a sailor may see
is the early sun peeking
at the horizon's line where,
the clouds that slither against
a velvet sky,
and the bronze crown
that it wears.
'Where- oh- where
this sailor goes?' asked citizens.
He goes to a place of
something lifting
like a reliving remembrance of
happier childhood memory.
And like a child he is-
he has spirits for adventure..
looking and navigating,
playing with tools
to find a located island.
An island of creatures,
new lands, and newer civlization.
And this he dreams- with hand
covering brow, seeking under
sunlight. He points and turns
the boat several times,
months after months.
And oft' my heart skips a beat,
for I love this sailor I know
he leaves alone,
though I smile for his passion.
