A Sailor's Triangle

I have not felt the chill ‘tis said awaits
nor heard the squeal of dead end rusty gates
yet seen the wreaks of those who’ve sailed those straights
to perish in the passing of their mates

cursed the freshening winds of billowed sail
that lulled us into view of sea as friend
stood as crashing waves tore out the rail
as screaming mast moaned past its point of bend.

This thing, this shrieking demon, doth pursue
is not this life I’ve ceded to the sea
‘tis a deep love kept hidden from its blue
a deafening protects me from its plea.

I have not felt the chill ‘tis said awaits
for I’ve a love loiters at the gates.
