A Wedding Prayer
Like the sand upon the shore in its endless, vast amount,
Or the stars in a clear night's sky, too numerous to count,
In each others' eyes, see forever and beyond
That your love may be for you and God an eternal bond.
Like the unspoken words in a mother's caring eyes,
Which tell of unconditional support that never dies,
From each others' lips, hear the vows you commit to fulfill
That when nothing else remains, your promise always will.
Like the potter who carefully molds his work of art from clay,
Or the child who creates a world of her own through imaginary play,
With each others' hands, build a lifelong dream to last
That one day you will smile as you remember times gone past.
Like the trees forever reaching toward the sun in the far away sky,
Or the destiny of the eagle to soar gracefully and high,
In each others' hearts, together, find a peaceful place to grow,
That now and for the rest of your lives, joy and love you'll know.
These eyes, lips, hands, and hearts raise now in prayer to bind
Two souls that once lived lives apart into one of the most blessed kind.
