Alive
I’m slowly fading
as I find happiness is still evading
I cannot see
the piece of pie for me
Where do I go
when all I want to know is
what happened to that feeling
from when we were kids?
As time and years fly by
20/20 hindsight is the only guiding light in our eyes
Watch and see
all the storms there are at sea
Watch and see
the ships smashed on the reefs
Watch and see what’s happened to you and me
and
try to fight
the always nearing tunnel of light
How did I
manage to get here?
Where are all
the ones I ever held dear?
I find fear is the only comfort I have
How did things
end up turning out so bad?
These years I’ve lived
fall short of dreams I had when just a kid
I’m still breathing
but I’ve been dead for years already
I’m still resisting
all these demons I’ve kept inside
I’m still fighting
but I wonder why
because it’s been a lifetime
since I felt alive
