All She Said Was Hello
All she said was hello,
The first time I saw her.
Some may say I was naïve,
But this is what I believed.
I was going to marry her,
Spend my life with her.
All she said was hello.
She told me many times to go away,
Sometimes in words I won't convey.
My heart stood firm, still does today.
I am so glad I held out all those years ago,
Never heeding whenever she said NO!
My life, then, was in such turmoil,
I found out later that hers wasn't any better.
Somehow we finally connected, by God no doubt.
Our lives became entwined and we started to win out.
As the years progressed we met life's challenges,
As one we took them on and won the prize.
Love was always there in our eyes.
Over 50 years have passed and we still hold hands,
We always will as we head to the Promised Land.
All because she said hello.
