An Angel Bathing
I see you swimming
so gracefully,
in the little alcove beneath the trees,
yet you are unaware.
I have pulled in my oars,
to let myself drift a bit,
in body and mind,
on the cool, deep green waters.
I watch as the surface of the water,
accepts the surface of your skin,
so softly; so gently,
and I am mesmerized by the motion.
I take out my pen
to write or draw the moment
but it doesn’t do it justice,
so I toss it aside,
and merely drift and gaze
upon your beauty.
As the sun begins to set you walk
softly upon the shore,
into the forest
until I can see you no more.
I pull out the oars
and sweetly smile
as I head back across the lake,
knowing I’ve seen
an angel bathing today.
