An Angel Called Paulette
Who said birthdays were for trite celebrations?
A day just for forgetting the world’s woes
Who said they were not for jubilation?
Of our victory against time and space; our foes
Answer, for I am happy and sad at the same time
I wish I could get hold of the person
Who lied to me the world has nothing good to offer
For I would tell him the story of a person
A person I met when life kicked me to suffer
When all my hope and faith trickled
A colorful butterfly flew my way
Gently guided me to a garden where love sprinkled
Where all my hope was restored and my pain rinsed away
How I wish I was not a poet but a painter
I would have painted the angel in you
Who fed my soul that faithful night
That night tears filled my heart tight
You were there to show me the light
When I see you, I know my God loves me
For he did not let or sublet
His gift of an angel called Paulette to me
But for free He sent you as a friend and course-mate
Just when I thought it was too late
To pull me from the doldrums and empower me
How soon does time fly!
Oh how fast the biological clock ticks
In celestial haste to expose the beauty that lies
In the centre of our hearts each passing day
When I try to look at God through the sky
I get completely carried away
As I fruitlessly try to fathom
The dexterity He used in creating you
Because as the world revolves you evolve
Into the perfect apotheosis of His love for mankind
