An Angel In My Eyes
We all know, “There are Angels Among us”
Appearing to us, in disguise
This is a little, poetic story
About an Angel in my eyes
At first she seemed, to be as normal
As any other, we may meet
But as she grew, I learned to know her
It was clear, she was unique
Soon I noticed, a strangeness about her
And it appeared, to be intention
Realizing that, her incongruities
Was her way ,of harm prevention
The fire was, her first acknowledged
She saved me from, an early demise
By persistence, she did warn me
She is an Angel, in my eyes
On the job, twenty-four/seven
When I myself, did not realize
Sent to me, straight from Heaven
She is an Angel, in my eyes
As I slept, she was beside me
Alert to every breath I took
She learned the nuance, of my being
She studied as though, I were a book
Learning every minute detail
Of the life-force, I partook
In restful slumber, at my bedside
She made this spot, her “special nook”
To a cold wet nose I wakened
Then there came a strange surprise
To warn me that, I was in Danger
She is an Angel, in my eyes
She had perceived, the changes in me
She knew that there, was something wrong
She had to wake her sleeping master
When I was weak, she was Strong
Shaking hands and labored heartbeat
Cold and clammy, I did feel
Wake up, wake up, my sleeping master
For it is time, for your next meal
Diabetes is, an evil demon
It attacks in many ways
And when it creeps into my slumber
She is watching, and she saves
Many times, she has roused me
So the danger, I’d realize
And by doing so, has saved me
She is an Angel, in my eyes
She taught herself, the skills she needed
As she learned, where I was weak
To be of service, to her master
And to do it, so complete
I did not witness, her descent
As she entered, from the skies
Protecting me, was her intent
This “Special Angel”, in my eyes
