Ants Inside The Cabinet

In the past I was an architect
and you were just a farmer
We've lived a thousand lives
and after this they'll be another

I knew I could never wait
yet still I sat atop your porch
Watching birds create the paths
that lead us safely to the north

When there were ants inside the cabinet
you said they live as you and me
They feast on grains and honey
and darling, we should let them be

I scream that I have made this
that the food is all my own
These feeble creatures cannot stay
love, they have to go back home
