As I Think of Her
As the darkness of my room cradles me and hums urban life lullabies of fire engine
trucks and police sirens.
I think of her.
The mere image of her in my mind causes a 100-watt smile to crawl onto my face.
And I feel myself needing her.
Her touch on my skin.
Her kiss on my lips.
And her mind linked with mine.
With our chests rising and falling in unison.
I have felt her heartbeat.
So while the cool kiss from those pillow lips make these Baltimore summer days
bearable.
As I think of her.
The smell of her perfume infiltrates my senses.
The sight of those brown eyes when school days are over.
Makes this homework worth doing.
And I think of her while doing that homework.
Then steady looking into nothingness thinking of her.
She makes my heart skip beats.
As I think of her.
I hum her ringtone in my cell phone.
As I think of her.
But the most of what I do.
As I think of her.
I dream.
Dream of our lives together.
Dream of our children.
Hoping they would have your beauty and intelligence.
My cleverness and wit.
Your never-binding will and those Coke Bottle Hips.
Our voices both combined.
Our bodies fused as One.
All of these things I dream.
As I Think Of Her.
