As Time Goes By
As time goes by
Sometimes when I sit here in my study
wondering what I can write about.
I think to myself, am I an old fuddy duddy?
Should I be up and about and out?
Then I think on and I come to see
that God has placed us where He wants us to be.
To my left I look into our secret hideaway
where we can sit and while away the day.
How blessed we are to live in such a place
surely we are here by God's good grace.
We live here in comfort which is so very nice
we both have worked hard and paid the price.
We both can feel a gentle breeze blowing through
with just a hint of scent in the morning dew.
For the day is just starting its climb to the night
Cool now, then hot, and then cooling at dusk, just right.
If we have any toil, for there's little to be done
we do it together, we both work as one.
It is done early morning before the heat gets high
or left until later; it will get done by and by.
Time is now not our master it is our friend.
We relax and enjoy as time together we spend
Until God calls us home, where our journey will end.
