Ask
Ask me something about the universe.
Ask me something about the free verse,
ask me about the poem that slays you,
ask me what inspired me, and I will answer, "only you"
Ask and you shall receive a compliment,
ask and you shall receive a kiss on your beautiful brow,
ask and you shall receive the truth,
ask me to lie and I shall lie.
Ask me anything, and you will receive an answer
that will make you smile and hold me ever so tight,
and nothing will keep us from this fight.
The soft songs keep us warm at night,
the gold on the ceiling and the gold in my heart
call for something more than love,
they call for a walk on the beach
in the sand that swallows us and we sink
like a ship in ocean waters or raging seas.
Ask me and the verse I spill out of my soul
I shall dedicate it to you, for I am your knight
in shining armor, racing toward you
because you've asked me too.
Ask, my dear, my love, my red rose,
and you shall receive me,
flesh and bone, heart in hand
soul and all.
