At First Glance
I went to a dance one night
in the Fall of ‘84
and danced with your friend for awhile
and than I saw you at first glance
with that olive skinned smile
your petite lithe shape and full red lips
we met and you spoke to me of
your native land then I took your hand
and we danced on and on
for many suns and many moons
children came in days of wine and brine
and here I am a vintage man
so much for wear who still loves you
and will always care
and life has shown as we continue to fill
the time we have left living on the edge
to celebrate that ocassional thread
of luck of money or joy
and that makes everything right
for who knows what occurs on the morrow
to wait for that chance at first glance
to dance again
