Be Patient My Child
Be Patient My Child
Alone I stand here beneath the full moon in all of its majesty
And gaze up as if I expect You to show yourself to me.
Your child, who is walking along a path that was never planned;
But allowed by your wisdom and grace unbeknown to me.
I have pleaded for understanding, and you have comforted me
And I have tried to be patient as you have asked.
Patient as any child is to a parent filled with promises.
This road has been long and I am still walking it alone
I know You are with me and that should suffice.
Perhaps there are more lessons to learn to make me worthy
And I have tried to be patient as you have asked.
The years have turned to decades and that desire to hold another’s hand,
The soul mate lost is like an empty closet waiting to be filled with royal wardrobe.
Maybe it is not Yours to give, as I have searched with relentless endeavor
Still afraid of being an empty closet and filling it with storage.
And I have tried to be patient as You have asked.
Only because You and I both know the value of my heart,
Joy and life I generously offer you, the children I nurture,
Friendless I befriend, the prayers I offer, the thanks I bring.
And I fear that what is being asked of me, is the silence of your answer.
For no answer is an answer, and I have tried to be patient as you have asked.
Still a small calm whisper repeats itself within, “Be patient my child.”
