Beach Nights
Take me to the sea at dusk
where the sand reaches beyond touch.
Where Ferris wheel lights crinkle on glassy swells
and the surf chases a sandpiper
that never knew a silent wave.
Take me on the whisper of a carelessly written rhyme
of blue jeans rolled to the knees
soaked in the lucid seams of a roller coaster ride
of so many days in between,
floating weightless in metered measures
of mindless static.
Take me
drag me
gather me in handfuls to your landscape
of broken stillness.
Tuck me close in your sleepy heart
and listen to the pounding.
