Love Poem: Beacon

Beacon

Shades of grey
    Plastered across the sky
Your smile eclipses a crescent moon
  Beaming into my open window
Damp air settles upon my tongue
Like fog looming a mountain peak
   Dissolving like sweet cotton
         Tasting like your kiss
         Delicate and distinct

              You appear
A rainbow arched in the doorway
A dazzling glint emanating from a dark canvas
Radiant hues framed in the shadows
I fear that if I blink, you’ll disappear
         Fade away like dripping paint
          Distorting the image of you
              Once, so beautiful
Possessing the quality of a morning dream
Evaporating with the first signs of consciousness
            Even if my eyes closed
Your image would be a burning ember
              Branded in my mind

I am engulfed in darkness once again
Its stringy arms entangle me like withered ivy
           Blackness prying my thoughts
But you are my guiding light
    Evoking my somnolent hopefulness
That I cling to in vain
Waiting for you to extricate me
From my dark realm of solitude
Your eyes are glowing iridescent jewels
Two flames floating in gauzy fumes
                   And that’s all I need
                     To feel at home
