Beauty In the Storm
“The sea is emotion incarnate. It loves, hates, and weeps. It defies all attempts to capture it with words and rejects all shackles. No matter what you say about it, there is always that which you can't.”
Christopher Paolini, Eragon
BEAUTY IN THE STORM
her hair tangled and brackish,
a brunette toga draped
over one shoulder —
the other open to the elements
of sea, sky and sand.
she faces the storm — it
appears in whites and grays
— textured ebb and flow.
it matches the bony ridges
of her shaded back.
she remains strong —
though she’s beaten
like the shoreline,
all alone
like a boat
in the middle of the deep.
her neck’s a strong ivory lighthouse
its eye wants to shine
on a sole survivor —
her hopes squelched by heavy moonlight.
