Because I Live Mr
“It’s life, just live with it!”
I said out loud on the beach
That cold morning as we took the plunge.
My friend and I on a winter morn.
Frost on the sand as we greeted the sun,
Took in the warm rays despite the air,
Which was glass-sharp entering our lungs.
Ice cold water, the waves somehow soft
Despite the ferocity of the tide.
The Sandy beach stretching out,
The tide line littered with the detritus
Washed up by the winter storms.
After anointing our bodies in the foamy brine,
To dress and return to society
After our brief sojourn to the land of sirens.
As we robed our cold and bathed bodies,
My naked flesh visible for all to see,
Aware of eyes watching our antics on the sand.
I spake forth “it’s life, deal with it!”
Our laughter rang out cross the beach,
Our passion for swimming had given us
Strength, passion and above all
The confidence to just be, and allow life to happen.
