Betrayal
A whispered poem, like
A gentle touch of love can put a spirit
In sorrow to joy;
It can deliver the restless mind to tranquility;
It can mend and heal a broken heart;
Rhyme or un-rhyme surely flows,
Strengthening the weak,
To live life and hope for the best.
A passing wind ripples on palm trees,
Can make a worried lover,
Sitting on a metal bench beneath it,
To wait a little longer for
Her confused fiancé;
It can bring her peace, a time to reflect her love;
It can make her soul calm, for awhile
Believing he’ll come ere the orb fades.
But you, my dear friend, like
A whispered poem can uplift my spirits,
Just by the touch of your hand;
You, like the passing wind,
Can caress my faith;
You can make relentless me, alive;
Yet, you chose not to be…
Instead, you’ve stolen my love.
