Beyond the Wall
Beyond the wall and wire's glare,
there walks a man with an empty stare.
No faith or hope to be seen in his eyes,
just misty tears he struggles to hide.
He seldom speaks, but when he does,
he talks of her and severed love.
On his face, you see heartbreaking sorrow,
Sometimes, you wonder if he will be here tomorrow.
You can see each day, how much harder it gets,
he is under a cloud that is raining regrets.
So young he is, but so old he seems,
As he sits alone sifting through dreams.
On the yard, you see him with nobody near,
but if you follow behind, he has left puddles of tears.
They all say he is crazy in here, that is the word,
but if you look real close, he simply filled with hurt.
What keeps him going some people ask,
but just glance in his cell if you happen to pass.
It is filled with pictures, letters and cards,
they took her from his arms, but never his heart.
Alive and breathing, lost all he ever had in life,
he chose to believe and continue to fight.
The walls might confine, the wire might seperate,
but his love for her, only God can take.
