Love Poem: Bones

Bones

My bones sit like crumpled plastic
on this dark road

my twisted ankles and heels
pretty, stilted, and contrived
My body wrapped like a package
My hair like the cover of a book
a foreshadowing of my mind

and i've just dug my way down again
 Once god's eyes blinked
 I tore my silk dress
because I'm just too young
and I just don't remember
what pain is like when it's over

So here, in this place, these bones were painted
when I gave them over
as I said, "Child let me stand
Take these things but keep Me
locked in your
golden hands"

Because i'll fall...

But he grabbed Me like crime
so fast, seemingly unassuming, so wrong
and shattered me like stained glass
trampling my temple,
And my fruitful garden
without seeing it
Or seeing these blue eyes
This trust, my deep love
My deep red heart

So here, Im just broken
Like an empty bottle
Like the ones that litter your mouth
And my forever vacant chest

I've lost it all

Again

at your hands...

and you don't even care
