Brother, Mine
You've always been the keeper of my ease,
The worth of my well-being, as your own,
And every good contingent you could seize,
Was shared, and never held for you alone ...
(Despite the seeds of error I have sown).
We've come so far in life, tho' rather bruised,
And now I need to tell you something, true,
Though "brother" is a word too often used ...
I'd not have learned its meaning ... but for you.
