finally,
with her back to him,
she faced the bonfire tonight,
but he could see in her hand
the written vow
which she tossed, quite hesitantly it seemed to him,
to the flames;

she faced him, reached for his hand,
and they quietly watched the paper quickly bend,
burn
and blossom like a jet-black rose,
and finally, finally
go out.
