Button
Button, still you lie
on the floor,
drawing my attention
with your small presence.
But I remember when you,
though loose, were once
on a coat. That coat
was present on a chair.
That chair was once occupied
by that coat, a coat that
was worn by a person,
then present, now gone.
That absence has left just
a button that had fallen.
Now it is moving no more,
still lying, lying still.
