Catching Fish
Catching Fish
The cabin was perfect.
I am wearing L.L.Bean.
How can I miss?
I have a pole, a hook and bate.
My guy is in control of all…instruction.
Did you know that they really use worms?
Did you know they are just as squirmy as they look?
Did you know, they are not happy, to be on the hook?
Wiggle, squiggle, hold on tight, this was the beginning of the fight.
Obviously, I am bigger and have had kids;
What can one worm do against…me?
“Set me free”, I heard it say, my imagination at play.
“I don’t want to be fish bate and you don’t even like fish crackers.
What are you doing here???” I fear…the conversation continued.
It was however, one sided.
Soon on the hook, and ready.
I watched, everything thing that he did.
I wanted to get it right.
I wanted to impress.
I was focused.
I was even…mindful.
The reel, the line, the shift, the time,
I pulled the rod back, let go,
and then…
the hook, mistook… my hat!
My chapeau was on the go,
across the lake a-flight,
one tiny worm, warm…
and happy.
