Love Poem: Chocolate Lies

Chocolate Lies

Your broken heart feels less than whole; half-truths become hard to endure. And chocolate lies tempt your soul; bittersweet, they leave you unsure. As tears snuff out passion's flame, fantasy gets rebuked by truth. And fear begins assigning blame; implicating the sins of youth. You heard he had cheated on you and struggled to understand why. And as your anxieties grew, you wanted to curl up and die. You let self-doubt council a heart broken and exposed to attack. And started questioning your part; wishing you could turn the clock back. Love's bonds were cut, as with a knife, leaving you in anguish and pain. And it devastated your life; threatening to drive you insane.
