Conditioned To Cry
A soul conditioned to cry
gives up when trust falls apart.
And no longer wants to try
to capture another's heart.
Finding fear blocking its way,
love derails, jumping off track.
And silently slips away,
never to find its way back.
Gambling that love is real;
you pray time won't call your bluff.
For pain's all you ever feel;
and hope is never enough.
When it hurts to be alive;
you have no reason to smile.
For there's no way love can thrive;
and there hasn't been for a while.
In this vulnerable state,
fractured dreams crumble away.
And abandoned to your fate;
emptiness consumes your day.
