Contently Married
I won't let happiness be my idol,
but it doesn't mean that I have it not.
Committed love is my ultimate goal,
and having one husband is quite a lot.
Perhaps there will be an alluring glance
from an enticer, seeming without flaw.
Not for the love of another romance,
will I ever break God's Covenant law.
My happiness is not all about me;
my title's revered above emotions.
My job is to care for my family
as wife and mother, my deep devotions.
As an example of Christ's sacrifice,
a good husband lives to die for his wife.
Like the Church body, submission's her price
and she does it willingly with her life.*
I take to the grave my matrimony,
by God's grace, set apart in holiness.
For this is my earthly testimony,
a working to mature a Christ-likeness.
With devout contentment I choose to live,
with an enduring competition of
which dear companion can greater forgive
and which prized better half can longer love.
