Cool Darkness
The cool darkness of the room is inviting.
She has drifted off to slumber deep,
Her smooth bare shoulder is enticing,
But now, it is the time for sleep.
Our children all are nestled in.
The hard work of day is done,
The world outside for now is pinned,
A time for peace and quiet won.
The bed is soft, the fan is blowing.
All my cares have gone astray.
My heartbeat and my breath are slowing,
At this my favorite time of day,
When there is nothing left to do but rest,
Off I drift in our cool dark nest.
