Dancing To Love's Tune
I had a dream once:
That I walked alone
Along the other bank of a river:
Watched, fascinated,
As gentle waters flowed.
I saw you dancing by the shore
Upon the newly watered grass;
How young and lithe you were
Pirouetting alone to a lively tune
That flared from nowhere.
I often ponder whether
I should have jumped in and
Joined the dance with you.
For then I would have wooed you,
Lured you into my loving arms.
Together we would have wandered,
Rambling along the peaceful charms
Of life and never fear the dangers
That the future planned for us.
Instead I hid behind a weeping wisteria,
Watched you dance and sing
A long and even rhythm,
Untiring and full of youthful zeal.
I had a dream once.
But dreams can come true.
I can still see her dancing alone.
But now she’s mine,
Celebrating our youth and love
And kissing beneath the pink flower wisteria.
It was a dream come true.
