Dead Sorry
He felt a presence, reeled around;
his breathing was the only sound,
but then the whispers stopped his heart.
'You know we shouldn't be apart.'
He gulped - a hand upon his back! -
and then his spinning world was black.
He woke to sunshine in the room -
no hint of last night's former gloom -
and written on the floor in dust:
'You broke my heart and broke my trust.'
He spoke aloud and hoped she'd hear:
'I'm sorry', Yes, he felt her near.
He wished he hadn't killed her now
but anger blinds him in a row.
Her body buried in the yard,
he dug it up, heart beating hard.
Just bones remained. He said, 'Oh, Joyce -'
and swallowed as he heard her voice.
'You're mine forever more,' she cried.
The grave was open, gaping wide -
and sobbing, praying, there he died...
