DEAR PARENTS

Dear Parents,
We know that you love us a lot,
But sometimes, all a child need is
A little understanding from your side.

Dear Parents,
Love should not feel like an obligation,
Like something we have to repay by being perfect.
We never want you to stay in pain for us.
We never want us to be the reason you swallowed your sorrows.
But every time you remind us,
It feels like a debt we can never clear.

Dear Parents,
When you fight, the walls tremble,
And so do the child within us,
The one who still hopes for a home
That feels like comfort, not a war field.
We do not want to pick sides,
We just want peace.

Dear Parents,
You tell the world we are great,
But have you ever asked if we want to be?
The weight of your pride suffocates us,
Turns our achievements into burdens.
You say you sacrificed everything for us,
But did you ever wonder
What it feels like to grow up watching love crumble?

Dear Parents,
We are not ungrateful,
But we are tired.
Tired of being the glue,
Tired of being the reason,
Tired of being seen, yet unseen.

Dear Parents,
We are your children,
And we love you a lot,
But we are also our own people.
And all we ask
Is to be allowed to breathe.
