Dear Paris
Dear Paris, you played me hard;
I thought love was holding all the cards
but that was just the first hand;
Bumped into him sitting in a cafe
we talked as the time slipped away
splitting a perfect chocolate eclair;
Enjoyed a picnic in the French countryside
as beautiful as you described
framed in a strawberry lemonade sunset;
It felt like the script of a romantic movie
He told me how he felt wholeheartedly;
A true gentleman he gave me a rose;
Believing all of his talk of true love
I smiled and I ate it all up
hoodwinked by the screenplay’s magic ;
Dear Paris why that filthy plot twist?
He was nothing but counterfeit
and faded to a nameless character;
The vision that you painted
left me unbelievably tainted;
My eyes burned by your image of France.
