Deeply Etched
Deep as first love and wild as all regret;
my memories of you are deeply etched.
And I replay each one, lest I forget,
even the silly ones that seem far-fetched.
Your smile resides within my heart and soul;
never to be forgotten or misplaced.
And although death keeps me from feeling whole,
the love we've shared can never be erased.
You visit my dreams as well as my thoughts;
reminding me of how things used to be.
And I find myself thinking of you lots;
your death affected every inch of me.
There's nothing left for me now but to wait;
who died first was a choice; time left to fate.
“Deep as first love, and wild as all regret.”
Alfred Lord Tennyson
