Different Friends Know a Different Me
Different friends know a different me.
For I am not the same with Margaret as I am with Lee.
I cannot be the same, and neither can they.
We have history, each making our story in a different way.
If you have a forever friend, you know what I mean.
You can pick up the phone and twenty years of silence goes away.
Your reactions, shared stories, memories, and laughter together is unique.
A different relationship with each friend.
Each friendship is sacred, living on her own planet.
Resting where others cannot go, a place you cannot begin to explain.
A planet reserved for two, held together by the
uniqueness you find in each other.
When I get my friends together we have a pleasant time,
But our hidden stories are not on the table. Our unique relationships
Are not touched on. Our hidden planet lives are safe.
Unique only to me and one other.
Whether it be me and Susan or me and Elise, uniquely ours.
A story all of our own. That cannot be explained.
A planet where no one else is invited.
Uniquely our own.
Different friends, different me.
Different me with different friends.
