Dogs In Heaven
A frail hand reached out to pat his head
As he stood guard beside his master’s bed
It seemed he knew the end was drawing near
For this man that he held so very dear
There would be no more playing fetch the ball
Or walk through the colored wood in the fall
But he would be there until the final breath
Love and loyalty not lessened by impending death
Soon in heaven they would surely meet
The master, with his dog curled up by his feet
