Early Morning Sunlight
One early morning not long ago
I watched sun-light streaming and beaming through
Cirrus and cumulous
Clouds in low altitude air.
The sky was as blue as you
Can imagine…deeper than
Any azure hue I’d ever seen
Painted on earth’s cathedral-like ceiling above.
I was in love
And couldn’t help but feeling
Something stirring deep within
These gravity-laden veins
Which for one brief moment, erased all thoughts
Of loneliness or pain.
I was lost in thoughts of rain
As time stood still watching
The sunlight filter through the snow white blanket
I dreamed of riding on as if
I were Pegasus with wings,
Aether or Anemoi, ancient gods of sky and winds.
I let the light begin
To penetrate my aching bones
From years of walking all alone around this planet’s crust
While looking for some peace of mind
In this world that I’ve been thrust
Into and pleased to see
The beauty of the light that shines on me
And you as well as well can be
Not unlike Apollo and those ancient gods
Of sky and stars we follow far
No matter who or what we are
Struggling to achieve or seek to uncover
Early morning sunlight helps me discover
There’s more to life than meets the eye
And more to mortal eyes than seeing
Past one’s brow and beyond the clouds
Farther than the sun somehow
We’re drawn intangibly like moon and tides
To God’s golden light and love not meant to hide.
