Ebony and Ivory
Ebony and Ivory
By his side, amidst their college graduation fanfare
Dreading the end of their great love affair
“I’ll make you happy, this I swear”
He’d suddenly said, while lost in the grip of her stare
“Come with me to Africa; my all, with you I’ll share”
By some college project, they were made a pair
And each other’s hearts, they later did ensnare
For their love, she’ll follow him to Amaland or anywhere
Though, she knew not what reception awaited her there
Surprise! They were heralded by trumpets blare
All citizens, clad in the best they could wear
In welcome, she was danced round the palace square
And she glistened from sweat under the tropical sun’s glare
A glorious sight, never before seen there;
The first white queen to a black African heir
Ivory white with a face so fair
And ebony black with kinky hair
Daily commands everyone’s stare
As hand in hand, they go everywhere
Bound by a love, only for those bold enough to dare
Note: This is purely imaginary
