Embrace
Another fool I am who thinks
he can
Pursue a dream and yet live
as a man
I must be slow indeed to
beat a gong
Then chase the birds
entreating for a song.
For entrance of your heart
is bloody feat
I rather would have done
without a feet
Hanging precariously out of
doors
And toils to bring it inside
fate deplores.
I wish this fire got a
final douse
But millions say I need
another house
Within you though I
share it now with
some.
Yet, won't you some day
nestle in a home
Although a million knuckles
knock your
door
And thousand vessels
dock by yonder shore?
How steal me honey fresh
without a sting?
How fly me heaven straight
without a wing?
For everything you crave
for has a twin
That you must bring home
too if you must
win
So I embrace you with as
much
a thorn
And pray some blessed day
they
all get shorn.
