Fallen Angel
A lovely woman in the night, forlorn,
holds in her hand a rose; pale is her face
against the backdrop of a storm just born.
Amidst loud thunder, she shows only grace.
She wears on her left arm the picture of
a heart. Indelible, it’s a tattoo,
the emblem of enduring faithful love.
Dark wings surround her, for to earth she flew.
She is an angel, but a fallen one,
forced out of heaven gate, for she could not
resist a man! The other angels shun
her now because a mortal’s love she sought.
Her paradise she’s lost. Has her revolt
been worth it? Toward her streaks a lightening bolt!
