For Mother
Exhausted rest from labors prayer
Bathed in sweat of joy
Answered with angelic child
Unblemished healthy boy
Humming a dulcet lullaby
With whispers of tomorrow
Promises of undying love
Through tears of bliss and sorrow
Contentedly sleeping, motionless
Loves' warm security
Hushed first dream of naivete
Such innocent purity
Dawn opens futures' brightened door
Eyes wide and clear of cloud
As manger breaks, simplicity escapes
And wrinkles mother's brow
