Forever
A night would last forever on Olympus,
Where bleeds the sorry vestige of humanity,
In centuries of servitude and vanity
And worship at false idol feet of clay.
Beyond the superficial sheath of heresy
The old gods fell to nothing fundamental,
Gave ground and bowed before the incidental
Antediluvian love that ruled the day.
For all their brimstone brevity and bluster
Consigned unto the ruins, buried under
When true immortal feelings stole their thunder
With human souls forever holding sway.
I have tapped such genesis and marvel
At beauty found in pastures old and new
Yet could not bear to separate from you,
We as one forever, let us pray...
