Forgiveness
Did the 'father prodigal' ever think,
Of founding his superiority;
And convince his converted son to shrink,
Under his offense against purity...?
Having forgiven all his enemies,
Persecuted; hung on the cross; murdered;
Had ever Jesus entertained fancies,
That his kindness is reciprocated…?
If I forgive just for self-contentment,
It's like receiving a fee for my trade;
I give; they give me back; short investment;
By giving and taking accounts tallied.
There's some selfishness within me hidden,
When I make forgiving a self-healing;
Nobility in my dealings be seen,
When I confront a sinner repenting…
I don't condone one's action. I let go.
Forgiveness is to move on. It's my strength.
I accept all. Yet, I'm not great I know.
Forgiveness is a gift and heart's true wealth.
It's my resilience. True moral science!
It's not a full stop, but, it's true take-off.
It's my effort. My ongoing practice!
It's because of this I'm always well off.
Let me go beyond selfish horizons,
And farthest of all finite mundane shores;
Let me understand human feelings,
Let Renunciation be my guiding force.
“There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10)
